CCCF Circulates Important Info re Trampolines

The Canadian Paediatric Society has a position statement about the use of trampolines - they do not recommend owning or using them as the incidence of serious injury from their use has increased dramatically since they became more widely available. You can read the article by clicking:

News from the ECE Human Resource Council (NL)

Child Care Workforce Logo

The Early Childhood Educators Human Resource Council (ECHRC) is pleased to advise that consulting firm of Don Gallant and Associates has been retained to develop a Human Resources Management and Administration Manual, for Licensees and Operators in the Child Care sector. The need for the development of such a Manual was identified within the work previously undertaken by the Industrial Adjustment Services (IAS)) Committee on Child Care Workforce Recruitment and Retention.

Work on this project will commence immediately and the consultants (Don Gallant and Mary Linehan) will work under the supervision of a Steering Committee of the ECHRC.

In developing this Manual the consultants will engage in discussion with key stakeholders within the child care sector. Methodologies for the project include a Literature and cross jurisdictional Review, Focus Groups, Key Informant Interviews and a sector-wide questionnaire (directed to Licensees and Operators). As such you may be asked to participate in focus group sessions and/or be included in the key informant interview series. Focus Group sessions will occur only in the St. John’s region however informant interviews will occur with randomly selected licensees and operators from across the province. In addition a short questionnaire will be distributed (either by hard copy or e mail) to all Licensees and Operators in the province.

If contacted by the Consultants we hopeful that you will willingly participate in this project. This Manual will be a valuable tool for Licensees and Operators in helping develop and deliver good HR practices within our child care centres but in order for it to be most useful and applicable it needs to be grounded in the identified needs of our sector and be based on feedback and input from those most affected. Your input is therefore most important.

If you should have questions regarding this project please feel free to contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or contact Don Gallant directly at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Ros Bennett, Chair, EHRCH
