Are you a post-secondary student? Are you looking for summer
employment that’s fun, rewarding and something new everyday?
If so … working in a child care centre may be the job for you!
Our post-secondary students condensed course is offered online and is free of charge. It is available each year mid-April. The course once completed will give post-secondary students a temporary non-renewable trainee level child care services certification for preschool and school-age classifications which will expire the Friday after Labour Day.
To register the post-secondary education student needs to print, complete and submit the current student condensed course application form and attach photocopied documentation that identifies them as a student (acceptance letter from Post-Secondary Institution or a student ID card) to the AECENL office by mail or dropped off to AECENL office. Once the completed application package is received, a username and password will be sent to the individual’s email to access and complete their course. Upon completion of the course an online PL certificate is issued. The individual should e-mail the PL certificate to the Registrar and who will complete the assessment process and issue the temporary certification.
The PL certificate issued at the end of the course is not the temporary trainee level certification, the individual has to submit the PL certificate as outlined above to obtain the non-renewable certification.
Completion of the course and obtaining the non-renewable certification does not guarantee employment in the field – participant is responsible for applying to child care centres for employment.
